Tauri Notes is a complete, readable starting point for a desktop note-taking product. Notes live on disk as plain markdown files with a small front-matter header, managed by a Rust storage crate that writes atomically, validates every note id and rebuilds its index.json cache when needed. The interface offers folders, tags, pinning, ranked full-text search with operators, a markdown editor with live split preview and autosave, a trash with restore, export to Markdown / HTML / JSON, three themes and keyboard shortcuts.
There is no bundler and no front-end dependency: the markdown renderer is hand-written and HTML-escaping, and the same front end runs in a plain browser against a localStorage adapter for development and screenshots. 44 JavaScript tests and 16 Rust tests are included. The Rust crate tests, cargo check/build of the Tauri app and the JS tests were run in the Mammoth lab; npm-based dev/build and macOS/Linux builds were not.
